TeddyGems Journal
Hello and welcome to the TeddyGems Journal!
I'm Gemma, the owner of TeddyGems British Shorthairs, a small family-run British Shorthair cattery based in South Yorkshire.
After many years of admiring and owning this wonderful breed, TeddyGems was established with a simple goal: to breed healthy, well-socialised British Shorthair kittens that make exceptional family companions while preserving the qualities that make the breed so special.
Our cats are first and foremost cherished members of our family. They share our home, receive plenty of love and attention, and enjoy a safe, enriching environment designed with their welfare at its heart. We believe that early socialisation plays a vital role in a kitten's development, helping them grow into confident, affectionate and well-adjusted companions.
Health is at the centre of everything we do. We carefully select our breeding cats based on health, temperament and breed type, ensuring that every mating is planned with the future wellbeing of the kittens in mind. We work closely with our veterinary team and continually invest in learning and professional development to provide the highest standards of care.
This journal will be a place where we share life at TeddyGems, including:
• Kitten and litter updates
• Pregnancy announcements and milestones
• TICA and GCCF show results
• Health and welfare information
• Behind-the-scenes cattery news
• Helpful guidance for kitten owners
• Updates on our breeding programme and future plans
2026 is an especially exciting year for TeddyGems. We are eagerly awaiting our first litter from our beautiful queen, Ember, while continuing to enjoy success in the show hall with our cats. We look forward to sharing every step of the journey with you.
Whether you are a fellow cat enthusiast, an existing TeddyGems family, or someone considering welcoming a British Shorthair kitten into your home, thank you for visiting our website and following our journey.
We hope you enjoy reading the TeddyGems Journal and look forward to sharing many exciting updates with you in the months and years ahead.
Warm wishes,
