Terms & Conditions of Sale

At TeddyGems British Shorthairs, the health, welfare, and lifelong happiness of our kittens is our highest priority. By reserving or purchasing a TeddyGems kitten, purchasers acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

Reservations & Deposits

A kitten will only be considered reserved once a deposit of £250 has been received.

Deposits are non-refundable should a purchaser change their mind or fail to complete the agreed purchase.

In the unlikely event that TeddyGems cancels the sale due to illness, welfare concerns, unforeseen circumstances, or the kitten becoming unavailable, all monies paid will be refunded in full.

TeddyGems reserves the right to refuse or cancel a sale at any stage where we believe a home may not be suitable for one of our kittens.

Health & Veterinary Care

All TeddyGems kittens leave for their new homes no earlier than 13 weeks of age and will be:

  • Fully weaned

  • Litter trained

  • Raised within a busy family home

  • Well socialised

  • Routinely treated for fleas and worms

  • Vaccinated against FCV, FHV and FPV

  • Microchipped in accordance with UK legislation

Each kitten will leave with:

  • Veterinary health records

  • Vaccination card

  • Relevant pedigree paperwork

  • Kitten care pack

  • Food and litter samples to help with transition

The breeder confirms that each kitten appears healthy and free from signs of infectious illness at the time of collection.

Genetic Health

TeddyGems British Shorthairs are bred from carefully selected lines with health and temperament as priorities.

Relevant breed health testing is undertaken where applicable, including:

  • PKD tested by parentage

  • Routine HCM screening of breeding queens

In the unlikely event that a kitten develops a serious hereditary or congenital condition affecting quality of life within the first 12 months, TeddyGems will work with the purchaser to reach a fair and reasonable resolution supported by veterinary evidence.

Indoor & Safe Outdoor Homes

TeddyGems kittens are sold as indoor-only pets unless otherwise agreed in writing.

British Shorthairs are affectionate, trusting, and valuable pedigree cats who are generally safest living as indoor pets or with secure outdoor access such as enclosed gardens or catios.

Unrestricted outdoor access may expose cats to:

  • Traffic accidents

  • Theft

  • Disease and parasites

  • Injury from other animals

  • Poisoning or toxins

  • Becoming lost or trapped

Nutrition & General Care

Our kittens are raised on a high-quality premium diet consisting of carefully selected raw and cooked foods.

Owners agree to continue providing appropriate nutrition, routine veterinary care, and a safe, loving home environment throughout the kitten’s life.

Kittens should always have access to:

  • Clean fresh water

  • Clean litter facilities

  • Safe sleeping areas

  • Daily social interaction and enrichment

TeddyGems kittens are raised using Hide & Seek Tofu Charcoal litter and will leave with a supply of the litter they are familiar with to help them settle comfortably into their new home.

Neutering & Breeding

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, TeddyGems kittens are sold strictly as pets and are not sold for breeding purposes.

Pet kittens should be neutered or spayed at an appropriate age as advised by the purchaser’s veterinary surgeon.

Registration papers may be endorsed in accordance with GCCF and/or TICA rules where applicable.

Declawing Policy

Under no circumstances should a TeddyGems kitten be declawed.

Declawing is painful, unnecessary, and detrimental to feline welfare. Appropriate scratching facilities and behavioural management should always be provided instead.

Rehoming Policy

If at any stage during the cat’s life an owner is unable to keep their TeddyGems kitten or cat, we ask that TeddyGems is contacted first.

We will always endeavour to offer support, advice, or assistance in helping secure an appropriate new home where possible.

TeddyGems kittens should never be surrendered to rescue centres, dealers, pet shops, or laboratories without prior contact with us.

Ongoing Support

At TeddyGems, we remain committed to every kitten we breed and are always happy to offer ongoing support, advice, and guidance throughout your cat’s life.
