We understand that choosing a kitten is a big decision, so we’ve answered some of the questions we are most commonly asked about our kittens, breeding practices, and the British Shorthair breed
Are your kittens GCCF or TICA registered?
Yes. Our kittens are registered with recognised cat governing bodies, depending on the litter and breeding plans. Registration details will always be discussed with each family before reservation.
Are your kittens raised in your home?
Absolutely. All of our kittens are raised in our busy family home alongside everyday household activities, ensuring they are well socialised, confident, and accustomed to family life.
Are your breeding cats health tested?
Yes. The health and wellbeing of our cats is extremely important to us. Our breeding lines are PKD tested by parentage, and HCM screened annually from 1 year of age.
What age can kittens leave for their new homes?
Our kittens usually leave between 13–14 weeks of age. This allows plenty of time for socialisation, development, vaccinations, and important time with their mother and littermates.
Are your kittens vaccinated?
Yes. Kittens leave having received their vaccinations for FCV (Feline Calicivirus), FHV (Feline Herpes Virus) and FPV (Feline Panleucopenia). Kittens receive their first vaccinations around 8 weeks with a follow up dose at 12 weeks to complete the course.
Are kittens microchipped before leaving?
Yes, all kittens are microchipped before joining their new families.
Do your kittens come insured?
Yes. Kittens leave with 5 weeks free insurance with Agria to help cover them during the transition to their new home.
Reserving a Kitten
How do I reserve a kitten?
Please complete our “Register Your Interest” enquiry form via our website. We carefully review all applications to ensure our kittens are matched with suitable homes.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A non-refundable reservation deposit of £250 is required to secure your chosen kitten.
Why are deposits non-refundable?
Once a kitten is reserved, we begin turning away other enquiries and preparing for that kitten’s future home. Deposits help ensure serious commitments from prospective owners.
Do you keep a waiting list?
Yes. We often operate a waiting list for approved families interested in future litters.
How often do you have litters?
As a small hobby breeder, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of our queens over quantity. We therefore only have a limited number of carefully planned litters each year.
Kitten Care & Preparation
What food are your kittens raised on?
Our kittens are raised on a high-quality diet consisting of premium raw and cooked foods to support healthy growth and development. Your kitten will be fully weaned and transitioned to Katkin before leaving for their new home.
What litter do your kittens use?
Our kittens are accustomed to Hide & Seek Tofu Charcoal litter. Each kitten will leave with a supply of their familiar litter to help with the transition into their new home.
Do kittens leave with a kitten pack?
Yes. Our kitten packs are carefully prepared and include helpful essentials such as familiar food, litter, toys, paperwork, and a personalised scented comfort blanket.
Do you provide a contract?
Yes. All kittens leave with a kitten contract outlining responsibilities, health information, and terms of sale.
Do you offer support after collection?
Absolutely. We are always happy to provide ongoing advice and support throughout your kitten’s life.

Are British Shorthairs good family pets?
Yes. British Shorthairs are known for their gentle, affectionate, and easy-going nature, making them wonderful companions for families and individuals alike.
Are British Shorthairs affectionate?
British Shorthairs are loving and loyal cats, although they are generally not overly demanding. They enjoy being near their people and often form strong bonds with their families.
Are British Shorthairs suitable for indoor living?
Yes. British Shorthairs adapt very well to indoor living and are safest kept as indoor pets or within secure outdoor spaces such as catios or enclosed gardens.
Do British Shorthairs get along with children and dogs?
With proper introductions, British Shorthairs are typically very tolerant and can live happily alongside respectful children and cat-friendly dogs.
Do British Shorthairs require a lot of grooming?
British Shorthairs have dense plush coats which benefit from regular brushing, especially during seasonal shedding periods, but overall grooming requirements are moderate.
How large do British Shorthairs grow?
British Shorthairs are a medium to large breed with a sturdy, muscular build. They mature slowly and can take up to 3–5 years to fully develop.
What colours do British Shorthairs come in?
British Shorthairs come in a wide variety of colours and patterns including blue, lilac, chocolate, black, golden, silver, bi-colour, colourpoint, and more.
Visiting & Collection
Can we visit the kittens?
The health and safety of our cats and kittens is our priority. Viewing arrangements are discussed individually with approved families. As a rule, we are happy for families to come to our home and meet their kittens from around 9 weeks of age once they have received their first dose of vaccines. Prior to this we will do our best to accommodate video calls with prospective families.
What should I prepare before bringing my kitten home?
We recommend preparing:
Food and water bowls
A litter tray and litter
Scratching posts
Toys and enrichment
A secure carrier
Safe indoor spaces for settling in
We will also provide guidance before collection day to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
